Takeoverrgv.com brings Lazaro Casanova to club Element. Lazaro from Miami has been on tour with MSTRKRFT and Juan Maclean a few years ago. I first saw Casanova about 2 years at sxsw in Austin when he was part of the MSTRKRFT fam. He played more of an electro house set and was a good set he did. Not too long ago Laz has changed his sound to more of a tech house, housey feel. A lot of drums, percussion and live sounds. Lately he has done remix work for Juan Maclean, Nic Fanciulli and Oscar G. His productions keeps getting better everytime I take a listen to his new tracks. This young and rising dj is a must see. The local talent for tomorrow night is Rey Aguilar (me), Jay Sunwalker and Julio Lacayo.

Tonight I'll be djing with my buddyFern at Cine el Rey. Takeoverrgv.com crew asked us to be there resident at there bi-weekly of loud sessions. They have the cheapest drink specials in all of downtown of 2$ beers and 2$ margaritas. I usually invite guest dj's....so, if you would like to play at this weekly, just hit me up! Dancers, good vibes, nice drink special and house music all night long. See you there!
Tonight Hatiras from Toronto Canada will be djing tonight at club Element. Hatiras was named the best electro house producer by Beatport.com. He deserves that for making the top 10 charts almost every tune he does. Tonight you will here some hard electro or "fidget" as most of these kids call these days. I believe the promoter is giving away 100 free shutter shades tonight....not really a fan of those. But should be a fun night either way. Your local dj's tonight are(the birthday boys of the night) is Jason Meds, Fenderock, Jay Sunwalker & Gruvman Funk. Tonight Nic Fanciulli (Buick Project, Skylark) head label of Saved records will be djing at Shine Martini Lounge. Nic is by far one of my top dj/producers in the house game. About 4 years ago when he was rising under Pete Tong's name, Fanciulli influenced me on playing some electro in my sets. I saw Nic when he first came to Reynosa & McAllen, they were both awesome nights. If you're into deep/tech house I recommend you checking him out tonight. Fanciulli is on tour promoting his new Global Underground compilation, check that out as well!

Every time I see this guys live videos, it gives me the chills. One of the best club dj's in the world and I missed him in Miami. But I'll be there next year for sure. Seb can mix down tracks, cue vocals perfectly and always rocks the crowd with his energy. My buddies say I look like him. And I thought I'd grow my beard out as an insider....gotta say....it doesn't look to bad.
College feat Electric Youth - She Never Came Back (The Outrunners Remix)
Here's a sweet tune by College. My buddy Fern showed me the video, I thought it was pretty sweet. Nice music to chill or to get ready before heading out to the club. I happend to have the Outrunners remix and enjoy more than the original. Check it out.
Tomorrow night my old buddies fromAudiotek teams up with TakeOverRgv.com and brings you Bird Peterson from Austin Tx. I saw Bird a few weeks ago dj in Austin opening for Felix Cartal. I must say...he fits perfect for the valley. From Electro to bmore to disco. This guy plays it all. From the remixes and originals Peterson has....he deserves to be part of the MSTRKRFT team/agency. It's been a while I haven't partied....so this night will be the night! Your local djs of the night are Retrovox (myself and Fern Arguello), Spinladen and CB3K.

Tonight I'll be checking out my friend Jay Sunwalker play some good tunage. From what he told me. He bought a megaphone and expects to play party music. A lot of hype will be going down tonight! Should be fun and interesting to hear and watch. I wish I had a new mix of his to post up of what he is going to play tonite! But here is a mix we did together back in December. It has house tracks from 1988-1992. Must say, I really liked this mix.
Hi everyone. Here's a mix from one of my good buddies Sam from Brownsville Tx. I met him few years back when we would meet each other at after parties and dj together. And we still do to this day. I recommend you check this mix. It has nice proper tech house sounds with a little spice of electro. Good mix to put on at your after hour spot.

R: How long have you been producing? W:Ive been producing for about 3 years already, I began right about this time of the year 3 years ago. Time has gone by fast! Its been one fucked up confusing but great journey!
R: Why do you call your green macbook 'geanie'? W:It all began as an inside joke with a couple of my homeboys, Geanie is actually the name of a little Chihuahua dog shes quite a diva.
R: I see you remixed Deadmau5. How did you react when you got a chance remix the great mau5? W:I was very thankful and excited! Deadmau5 has become one of the biggest acts in Electronic Music Im glad I was given the opportunity to remix him, not just once but twice! Just finished remixing his track "Attention Whore" and I was also asked to remix "Dr. Funkenstein" I'll be starting on that one soon.
R: Who is your biggest influence in electronic music? W:Ive got a handful of producers and djs that are a big influence, but I guess Armand Van Helden would be it. Hes just so fresh and innovative hes always doing his own thing and its been working for years. And obviously Daft Punk as well!
R:Your Wonky Sessions have doing great with awesome djs. Who else is coming up on the list? W: I've not really kept up with Wonky Sessions the past couple of months but I should get back on it soon. There are some great djs coming up like Bass Weazal, Marius Modal, Rey Aguilar, A1 Bassline, Kelevra and some others.
R: Your first gig in McAllen, Texas next week at club Element. How do you feel about it? W:This party is going to be insane! Im all about hyped up edgy shows and this is exactly what party will be like. The promoter is putting in a lot of effort and creativity on everything from promotion to decoration. I will be debuting my Mr. Micro Wonk project so were starting off deep and building it up to my main alias.
R: I've seen you've travelled to Los Angeles, New York and Denver. Which city was your favorite to dj at? W:My favorite city has been Los Angeles, the scene their is huge and people really know how to party, I was there the whole weekend so I got to do a bit of sight seeing and relaxing instead of flying in playing and flying out.
R: What are your future projects? What new releases are coming up next? W:I had been somewhat hesitant to put out my own original singles and eps, I first wanted to get some big remixes under my belt so now that its all coming together I'm finally ready to bust out tons of original material. Ive got a project I'll be working on with my homeboy Marius Modal, also doing a lot of collaborations with Melleefresh, and more remixes!
R: I see you use a different setup then most dj's around. Describe what equipment you have and what you do into your sets. W:Yes I'm not much of a dj I'm more of a producer and will always be a producer but I still wanted to play out and found a way that suited me. I use a Macbook Pro running Ableton Live and my main controller is an Allen & Heath Xone 4d Ive also got a tiny midi controller I cant remember the name of it its by M-Audio. What I do depends on the track I usually have 10 channels set up with two channels reserved strictly for tracks and then Ive got different cue points on each track and various layers, loops and synths that go along with each track. Like I said each track is different and its not always set up like this on each track.
R: Mr Wonk, thank you for this interview. A lot of us can't wait to see/party with you. Any last words? W:Thank you for having me I will see you at Club Element on May 15 get ready to party!
Next Friday Revibe Unity and the Rawkstar crew from club Element bring you Mr Wonk hailing from London UK. Wonk has been rising faster and faster with every remix he gets his hands on. Remixing big acts such as Dj Dan, Majik Johnson, Dopamine plus my personal favorite Mr Wonk's remix of 'Hold on' by Matt Herdman on John Acquaviva's respected label Definitive Recordings. Just recently he just finished a remix for the mouse everyone knows, Deadmau5! Also make sure to check his Wonky Sessions featured with the best dj/producers from around the globe. You can check that out on his myspace located below. Expect to hear big bass, electro, fun music at this night! Don't forget to support your local dj's my good buddy and part of Retrovox fame Fern Arguello, Trend-E and DJ Flux!
