Aftermath I

So the month of September has been interesting. I had two EP releases this month. Terraza ep and Martleb Remixes ep. One of the remixes from the Martleb EP got charted by Hernan Cattaneo. Hernan is one of the most well known and respected djs in the world. It feels good that he has been playing one of my tunes. That was big news!
Moving on...I took a road trip to Austin recently to catch one of my favorite bands Miami Horror. It really was a disappoint. My first time being at The Phoenix (venue) is a nice club. They had open bar from 9-10pm. That was great. There was a fashion show...that was ok. There was 3 bands on the line up. The first band...completely forgot the name of the band...I didn't really like it. I didn't move from where I was sitting. The second band French Horn Rebellion. They seemed cool. But I noticed from the stage...the sound was not great at all. You could not hear the guys vocals at all. I knew from there that Miami Horror was not going to be all that great either. I'm a sound guy myself. I need to be in a club where it HAS to be loud n clear so I can enjoy the music....or at least get in some kind of groove. The band took a long while to set up. They didn't start the music until 2am. I noticed there was problems with some of there keyboards and used a different kind. As soon as they got on...the sound did not change at all. Big failure on that. I don't what else to say about the night. The sound makes a difference everywhere to me! I can't really say anything bad about the band, it had nothing to do with them. Oh yea...another thing that stood out the most was this guy that smelled realllllyyyy bad. Whoever is reading this and went to the show, you probably know who I'm talking about! Haha! Smelled so bad my nose hairs fell out.
Day 2 of the weekend. I had to be back for my show that I created. I booked Justin Martin at Cine El Rey. The whole 5 hr drive all I was thinking about is the SOUND and people attending. After the whole Miami Horror show I knew I wasn't going to let that happen for this night! All I had to do was wait really. I had the sound going early. And the sound was great! Had so many people calling and txting. I got tired of it. I was running around like a mad man. Time flew so fast that 11pm came around. That was my time to dj. After my set I was given so many props. That was cool. I had fun...looked like the whole venue had fun. The crowd that came in was good looking crowd. That's what I liked! All the events I do is all about FUN. Always. Just like my any other gig I do really. Just have fun and enjoy yourself. Justin Martin played a awesome set by the way. He rocked the party. Justin told me himself that McAllen is way better than most of his other gigs. That's really good to hear. I know there's a scene down here. Just got to have hope. I'm trying to make it bigger! This night made up for Miami Horror that's for sure!

ciao!

Here is my set from Justin Martin. Cheers.

Noice

Tanner Ross & Sergio Santos - NOICE! Presents Culprit, Proton Radio - 28-07-2010 by R_co

A mix worth checking out by Tanner Ross and Sergio Santos. I've been loving this sound for a while. Also I have been playing it during my sets. It's a lot more slower tempo in dance music. It gets your hips rocking.

Rey Aguilar - La Terraza EP

After more than a year. These 3 tunes have finally been released! Some of you all might have heard them a long time some of you might have not heard them at all. I made these tunes last summer. It's a little more on the tech house side of things. A genre I'm trying to stay away from now. The productions I have been making at the moment is a lot more slower and more groovey. Anyway...these tunes are out thru Moma Recordings from Spain. The label seems to be legit with the artists they have on the label. I think its an upcoming label to look out for. As always feedback is appreciated.
ciao

Miami Horror / The Strokes

For those who don't know who Miami Horror is. They an electro-pop act from Australia with a disco throw back style. I've been listening to Benjamin's (producer of the band) music probably since around 06' or 07'. They just released there first debut album 2 weeks ago. Must say....it has to be one of the best I've heard in a while from a band. For those who know me...you all know I'm a big fan of this band. As well as the whole 80's disco sound. Something I can't get enough of. This tune 'Holidays' has to be one of my favorites on this album. Alan Palomo from Neon Indian/Vega is on the vocals. Miami Horror will be performing in Austin at Phoenix Sept 17th. Will do my best to catch these guys. I always miss them during SXSW. I'm sure they will do good!

I'm sure everyone knows The Strokes. Probably the best band this past decade....to me that is. They have a new album coming out soon. Can't wait for that. These guys will be performing at ACL. I'm not too sure about making it to the festival. But...I might catch them at Stubb's October 6th.
